#01K1 Series: The Disappearing Hawker & Other Stories Short Ver

At #01K1SHOP, we invite you to come by our re-interpretation of the modern-day hawker stall. Come add your stories about hawker food and heritage, based on the art, to this interactive installation.
Hawker food and hawker centres are often seen as an important part of Singapore’s cultural identity. Images of street hawking can be seen in the artworks at National Gallery Singapore. These capture a period in Singapore’s past, when hawkers would cook and sell food on the streets. Today, food vendors can be found at more centralised locations in hawker centres. In recent years, there have been growing concerns over the declining trade and with it, a hawker heritage that is at risk of disappearing.
